Unity Cocktail Ceremony

Mixing a cocktail or ‘Union/Unity cocktail’ Adds a fantastic, new and funky symbolic element to your ceremony. It is becoming increasingly popular as it looks great for photos.

It can also help to include all the guests or perhaps just two members from each side to represent the ‘blending’ of the two families.

It has great meanings, and you can create amazing tastings cocktails for your guests.

You can name the cocktail anything you like after yourselves or something or someone that has great meaning to you both.

It’s an incredibly fun, light-hearted and different symbolic action. Much less serious than lighting candles. Really ideal for a couple who want to highlight joy and fun in their ceremony.

Shona Golden’s Cocktail Ceremony.

Mix this cocktail as a metaphor for the journey of life.

We will mix sweet and bitter ingredients representing the ups and downs you will face together as a couple.

The cocktail also represents the blending of your separate lives now becoming forever entwined. Once the ingredients are mixed, they can never be unmixed. Your single, separate ingredients/personalities are now mingling together, coursing through each other to make one whole entity. Your new married status.

In this cocktail we will blend rum for fun, and fire for passion.

And we hope this union has an abundance of both.

Mint leaves to represent the times that will be bitter but will go smoothly as you navigate a life in togetherness.

As the colour green represents growth, balance and harmony. We add some lime; and wish that this union is filled with all three.

A splash of gin for strength as your lives will go from strength to strength as you promise to continue to support and love each other and shoulder each other’s burdens.

Pineapple is included to keep your love sweet, and pure.

Finally, some lemonade to always bring fizz and Sparkle! And all of your loved ones here celebrating today, pray your romance, will never go flat.

I am happy to write a new ceremony for any ideas of cocktails and flavours and any additional elements that you and your partner have.

Shona xx
