The Romantic Comedy Writing Celebrant xx
Hello, my name is Shona Golden, I was born in Truro, but currently live in the little slice of heaven that is Porthleven. I am happy to travel anywhere in Cornwall and Devon.
I adore exploring the coastline in our T4 VW camper, swimming, and taking photos.
I am a very empathetic person who loves writing and meeting new people. I have a BA (hons) in Creative writing which I obtained from Falmouth University.
Receiving my degree in front of my husband and kids was one of the proudest days of my life. It was a day I will never forget. It wasn’t easily attained as I am dyslexic and Dyspraxic. My love and natural talent for writing helped me through. It also showed my tenacity and determination. I want more than anything for my five beautiful boys to be proud of their mum.
I am lucky enough to be married to my best friend Ollie and we have been together for 23 years.
Our dog is also a boy, which makes me the only girl in the house. I did insist however that our hoover was a pink Hettie.
I am very outgoing; my default is Happy and bubbly. I am very comfortable speaking in public and I am very creative and can write the best ceremonies.
I have always wanted to be a writer but always thought I wasn’t clever enough. I did not know that I was dyslexic until I was 40 and at University. I always knew I was a slightly odd duck that was different from the norm, but didn't know what it was called. 'Being Fabulous' is another word for dyslexic I believe.
I was overwhelmed with the love, support, and encouragement I was given at Falmouth Uni. My quirkiness was embraced and was an asset where creative writing is involved and I thrived.
I am so glad I finally stepped out of my box to pursue my dreams. I am currently loving writing a Cornish, romantic comedy called 'Nelly the Elephant' and I would have never thought that was possible. I am eternally grateful for all that love and uplifting, reassurance. It fully reignited my faith in humans.
I will take that love and kindness, and harness it into being a celebrant. I am officially going to be the ' Romantic Comedy Writer, who marries people!
What a combo. I am over the moon.
Eulogies will be nothing short of well researched celebrations of life. They will be filled with love and respect. Any ceremony I write will be unique and bespoke. It is so fun to add traditional handfastings and jumping the broom into modern reimagined wedding ceremonies. All my ceremonies are fun, visually appealing and vibrant.
Even if you require a very traditional looking wedding, it is still nice to have personal touches.
Everybody's cup of tea is different, So I will customise your ceremony and work closely by your side to create a magical and joyful experience. The beauty of being a celebrant is that we can do anything. Beach, woods, submarine? Whatever your heart and imagination desires. I am always up for a new adventure. I can work out quite quickly the vibe of the ceremony required. It will be my absolute pleasure to work hard to make the day as special for you as it should be. Life is short, let’s make it spectacular together.
